A home’s sump pump is an essential element in many homes to keep those that live in the home safe from possible flooding. Sump pumps collect water below the lowest level of the home and release it outside of the home. Since they serve such an important function, it’s important to have your sump pump replaced when the time comes. A few indicators that your sump needs to be replaced are:
Your sump pump should not run continuously. In the event that it is, hopefully it is just a switch problem that can be easily repaired. If that’s not the issue, your home’s sump may not be able to handle its water and as a result has to be replaced.
If your sump pump goes long periods of time without being used, it is likely to have a shorter lifespan and be in need of a replacement earlier than potentially expected.
In the event that your sump pump’s motor begins to struggle, it is time to consider a replacement. If the motor for your sump pump isn’t working or the motor gets stuck frequently it can be more cost effective to replace the unit than continue to repair it.
Any odd or disconcerting sounds coming from your sump pump can signal damaged or worn components. Any banging, grinding, or rattling sounds are cause for concern.
Sometimes old age is enough of a reason to get a replacement sump pump. Over time, wear and tear will make your sump pump less effective. Any sump pump over seven years of age is considered outdated and a replacement should be considered.
Any visible rust is a sign that your sump pump has begun to deteriorate. Rust can cause your sump pump to have issues with water flow to your drainage system.
Anytime your sump pump is vibrating uncontrollably it is likely due to an issue with the impeller. Impellers become damaged when debris is sucked up by them. Damaged impellers are unlikely to be able to be repaired and as a result a replacement unit is usually needed.
Regardless of your home Sump Pump issue at hand, Metro Air Heating & Cooling expert technicians will determine your needs before any work is done, so you can make the best decision possible for your family and your home. We had a new hot water heater installed on Monday, October 28, 2024. Chad and Richard came to our home and did a fantastic job removing our old hot water heater and installing the new hot water heater. It was a difficult project because of the narrow opening in our furnace room. They had to remove some duct work and later put the duct work back in place. They did it with a little guidance from Nick in the office, as he walked them through this difficult job. Chad and Richard then installed the new water heater. It was done in an efficient, and very well done manner. Chad and Richard were great. The office personnel including all of the support staff, Nick, and Matt in sales were all wonderful to work with and made this situation of having to suddenly have a new hot water installed an easy process. Thank you so very much. Mary Burns
